BEST OF 2011

Ive been in Japan for the past few weeks so the annual “Best Of” post has been postponed until now. 2011 seemed to come and go in a breeze. Check out my brief year-end wrap up and 100 of my favorite images made in the year 2011 after the jump.
MOVEMENT OF KINGZ

Back in September I had the pleasure of photographing four talented musical artists from Movement of Kingz Entertainment at Houston Skyline Studios in Houston’s Warehouse District. We had a limited time to shoot, but managed to pull off several different looks for the guys. The crew from Vicious Films was on hand and produced an awesome behind the scenes piece from the shoot. Check out the behind the scenes video and the resulting images inside!
THE AMERICAN SOUTHWEST

After a few hectic weeks of non-stop shooting and editing in early August, I decided to drop everything and take a VERY spontaneous trip across The American Southwest. Loaded with a digital SLR, one of my GoPro HD cameras, my trusty Polaroid Spectra, and a few other film cameras, I set out on a brief, but exciting, Kerouacian adventure. Check out the story and images after the jump!
SENIOR PORTRAITS?

It’s been way too long! I know, I know, I know. You don’t have to tell me! My work/life over these first few months of 2011 have been nothing if not hectic, but believe me, I have a dry-erase board hanging in my (new) office with more than a few ideas for upcoming blog posts, [...]
BEST OF 2010

2010 was a crazy year filled with lots of surprises. If you were to ask me a year ago, where I would be in a year, I most likely wouldn’t be anywhere near the reality of it all. Check out my annual, end-of-year, post filled with my favorite images made throughout 2010 here.
FEATURED IN PHOTOSHOP USER MAGAZINE

About a month and a half ago I got an email from Mike Mackenzie, Associate Publisher of Photoshop User and Layers magazines, letting me know that they wanted me to be featured in Photoshop User magazine. I was thrilled to be featured in a magazine that I receive and read every month. Check out the story and see PDF images of the entire magazine feature spread here.
COMMERCIAL PORTRAITS

We spent a recent long-weekend photographing models for an upcoming project. Several conceptual set ups were utilized and a handful of different models came to the studio to sit. One of the models we worked with was our good friend Sarah Jade Robbins who we have worked with before. See what we did with her here!
PRINTS FOR SALE!

In June of 2010 I participated in a group gallery show called “Convergences” featuring an amazing group of local Houston illustrators, painters and street artists. I assembled a grid of 4 square prints to display which conveyed my theme of “abstract portraits”. These 4, 20″x20″ prints are now being sold to help fund an exciting upcoming project.

Here you will see photos taken with the camera on my Apple iPhone 4.

BEST OF THE CHRONICLE 2010 (JAN-JUNE)

One of my regular editorial clients is my hometown newspaper, The Houston Chronicle. JAMESON TAILLON

ADRIENNE & ELIZABETH

A few weeks ago my friend Adrienne assisted me on an editorial portrait shoot for The Houston Chronicle. It was a rather overcast and chilly day, but she was a trooper and patiently stood in as I got my lighting all set prior to the subject’s arrival. Of the few frames of Adrienne that I [...]

I spent some time this past Saturday afternoon with longtime client, Planet Funk Academy at the Wortham Center in Houston’s theater district as they prepared to take the stage. THE RED CURTAIN

No, this is entry has nothing to do with the USSR or the Cold War, but we do like red. Libby and I have some bold red curtains that span an entire wall in our living room, so we decided to have a bit of fun with some gear that was laying about being inventoried. [...]
IPHONE ADVENTURE

Every year Libby and I send out a self-designed holiday card using our own skills as graphic artists and photographers. When it came time to produce this year’s card we had some initial trouble coming up with a fresh idea. After a bit of thinking I came up with the idea of using images taken [...]
