PRINTS FOR SALE!

In June of 2010 I participated in a group gallery show called “Convergences” featuring an amazing group of local Houston illustrators, painters and street artists. I assembled a grid of 4 square prints to display which conveyed my theme of “abstract portraits”. These 4, 20″x20″ prints are now being sold to help fund an exciting upcoming project.
RECENT TRAVEL PHOTOS 4 OF 4: IPHONE

The first few weeks of July 2010 were spent visiting family in Chicago and Akron, Ohio. My grandmother turned 80 and members of our family from all parts of the globe congregated in Ohio to surprise her for her birthday. Even though the travel was personal and not business, I still took a ton of photos. This post is the last in a series of 4 dedicated to the images made during the trip. Here you will see photos taken with the camera on my Apple iPhone 4.

THE 400 PAGE BLURB BOOK

I recently created a mammoth, 400 page 7″x7″ book via Blurb.com for my grandmother’s 80th birthday celebration. The pages were filled with 100% scanned in film images from my family’s history. See how the book came to be as well as see lots of photos of the finished product in this post.
SEEING SQUARES

For Libby’s birthday I got her a vintage Lubitel twin lens camera. She has always loved twin lens units so since the ones in our current collection had completed the transition from functioning camera to sitting on the shelf with the rest of the old-timers, I decided to get a new one. I went with [...]
THE RED CURTAIN

No, this is entry has nothing to do with the USSR or the Cold War, but we do like red. Libby and I have some bold red curtains that span an entire wall in our living room, so we decided to have a bit of fun with some gear that was laying about being inventoried. [...]
IPHONE ADVENTURE

Every year Libby and I send out a self-designed holiday card using our own skills as graphic artists and photographers. When it came time to produce this year’s card we had some initial trouble coming up with a fresh idea. After a bit of thinking I came up with the idea of using images taken [...]
STOP:LOVE

Ahhh Valentine’s Day. I usually don’t look forward to this day even though I should since I am in a wonderful relationship and not sad and alone, however it just means I have to find something to get my lovely lady, usually at the last minute. In the end, they usually turn out OK, but [...]
PUMPKINS

Since the lady leaves tomorrow for Houston, we decided to pick up a few pumpkins at the Fells Point Safeway. I feel guilty buying them from Safeway given the fact that I’ve covered countless events at local farms that feature fresh pumpkin patches, but I like to think I just bought them from the retailer [...]
ALL ON BLACK

I spent the last couple of days exploring Atlantic City and the Jersey shore. When the lady visits we usually make it a point to spend my days off exploring a new city or area of the East Coast. There are so many interesting areas within a few hours of Baltimore. It takes a significant [...]
MR. SPOTH GOES TO WASHINGTON

How can I pass up a blog title like that?! Anyways. I ventured down to DC for my first (in a series, I’m sure) of exploratory trips to our nation’s capital, which is only about 40 minutes away from here. Since I have off Tuesdays and Wednesdays I slept in a bit on Tuesday and [...]
FEATURED

Daniel Fox, founder of Skreened.com contacted me last week and asked me if Libby and I were interested in being Skreened’s featured designers, and after he mentioned I was his favorite, I said, “yes!” The process involved waiting for Libby to return from a business trip and my other shirt to arrive and then setting up this shot. [...]
SANDUSKY, OHIO

I’ve been here in Akron, Ohio for almost a week now. I have a bunch of family out here . An obligatory 2 hour trek out to Sandusky was made last Friday and it was amazing as always. Sandusky is known for two things: Being the location of Tommy Boy and a little peninsula that juts into Lake [...]
BANZAI!

As per my previous scribblings, my lady has started a new endeavor as a creative baker extraordinaire, focusing specifically on cupcakes. After years of cupcake pins, patches, clothes, stationary, etc I figure it’s only a natural progression. Regardless, the other day she made a batch of sushi cupcakes. I love sushi, and not because the [...]
LUXCUPS

Yesterday I went back to my design roots. Before I was serious about pursuing a career with a camera I already had a bit of experience in the graphic arts/web design industry. Nothing too fancy, but for a while I did freelance work designing websites and logos. I really need to break down and get [...]
