NEW YEARS IN JAPAN

NEW YEARS IN JAPAN

Given my partial Japanese heritage, I was excited to hear I would be ringing in 2012 in my motherland of Japan. After nearly three weeks of exploring Tokyo, Kyoto, et al, I headed back stateside and dove back into the daily grind of business. Between a film camera and my digital arsenal I was able to chronicle my trip in more ways than one. Check out my favorite images from my trip and read all about my experiences after the jump!

Ive been in Japan for the past few weeks so the annual “Best Of” post has been postponed until now. 2011 seemed to come and go in a breeze. Check out my brief year-end wrap up and 100 of my favorite images made in the year 2011 after the jump.

BEST OF 2010

BEST OF 2010

2010 was a crazy year filled with lots of surprises. If you were to ask me a year ago, where I would be in a year, I most likely wouldn’t be anywhere near the reality of it all. Check out my annual, end-of-year, post filled with my favorite images made throughout 2010 here.

RECENT TRAVEL PHOTOS 4 OF 4: IPHONE

RECENT TRAVEL PHOTOS 4 OF 4: IPHONE

The first few weeks of July 2010 were spent visiting family in Chicago and Akron, Ohio. My grandmother turned 80 and members of our family from all parts of the globe congregated in Ohio to surprise her for her birthday. Even though the travel was personal and not business, I still took a ton of photos. This post is the last in a series of 4 dedicated to the images made during the trip. Here you will see photos taken with the camera on my Apple iPhone 4.

ADRIENNE & ELIZABETH

ADRIENNE & ELIZABETH

A few weeks ago my friend Adrienne assisted me on an editorial portrait shoot for The Houston Chronicle. It was a rather overcast and chilly day, but she was a trooper and patiently stood in as I got my lighting all set prior to the subject’s arrival. Of the few frames of Adrienne that I [...]

RANDOM ABSTRACTIONS

RANDOM ABSTRACTIONS

The other day I decided to play around with a few photo tools I rarely get the chance to utilize. I toyed with photographing a few things in the office and kitchen before finding inspiration and making some rather abstract imagery. The photo above is one I particularly liked from the set. There is a [...]

STREET ART RIO

STREET ART RIO

After spending a good bit of time in Brasil, Ive noticed that in most cities, namely Rio de Janeiro, street art, whether it be graffiti, wheat pasting, stenciling or another form is thought of and subsequently dealt with a lot differently than it is here in Houston. Of course this differential may be a lot [...]

NEWS-ISH

NEWS-ISH

I have a few updates and news(ish) items to talk about. First off my recent article, “Riding A Wave” was published this earlier this week in the SportsShooter.com newsletter. The article which talks about my recent experience producing the documentary, The Messenger: 360 Days of Bolivar, was featured on the front page for a day [...]

THE BACKYARD

THE BACKYARD

These images are from a small group of photos i took this afternoon at my aunt’s house in Ohio. All of them shot with a 5D and a 50mm 2.5 macro lens. Nothing was touched or moved, I simply explored my surroundings in search of interesting patterns, colors, and shapes. This little mini photo essay [...]

A FEW ODDS AND ENDS

A FEW ODDS AND ENDS

Not much going on tonite so I decided to mess around with a few new items. First off, I have been intrigued by the Lensbaby products for some time and since the paper has a few of the newest generation model 3G’s, I thought I’d test one out. Since the paper uses Nikon cameras exclusively I was forced [...]
