Earlier this year I had the opportunity to spend some time in Japan. I made a lot of photos and did a lot of really awesome things. Click here to read more about the actual trip in the original blog post, “NEW YEARS IN JAPAN”.

During the trip I shot a handful of rolls of Kodak Portra medium format film with my Hasselblad 501cw outfit. Click here to check out some of my favorite medium format images from Japan in my archive.

A few weeks ago I decided to produce a small 8″ x 8″ square format book of my favorite Hasselblad images. As far as self-publishing books go I have made several efforts using the Blurb platform. You may remember my book I produced from images I took in Africa as well as my huge 400-page book for my grandmother. I had heard some rave reviews about Adorama’s publishing platform and their books so I decided to give them a try.

AFRICA BOOK by Todd Spoth // 400 PAGES by Todd Spoth

The online software was pretty simple to navigate, but the biggest surprise was the actual quality of the book itself. The pages were thick and laid flat making the gutter a non issue. The hardcover image wrap was nice as well, however I would love some additional cover material options in the future.

I received the book some weeks ago and just got around to filming a short preview video of what the finished product looks like.

Check it out and let me know what you think!
