THIS IS WHY I LOVE MY JOB

KATRINA FAMILY
Last week I photographed the Ducros family here in the Springs. They fled the lower 9th ward after their home was destroyed during Hurricane Katrina and have lived in Colorado Springs ever since. The kind people in Habitat for Humanity have built the family a new home and I was there to see the family tour the new home for the first time. I was drawn to 9-year-old Christian who seemed to be in awe of simple details of the house that we all take for granted. The image above is one that ran in the Gazette following the event. The image below is a scan of a very sweet thank you card I received on behalf of the Ducros family and the local Habitat for Humanity organization. I don’t get thank you cards on a regular basis so this is very special to me. It reminds me that telling these peoples’ stories is important and makes a difference.

THANKS
